Knitting and Painting

Its been a while since my last post here. The reason is that I have, as always been painting a bunch. Also I got a chance to go to the Rhinebeck sheep and wool festival, very big event for knitters. It was splendid, I saw many people, much yarn and so many sheep. ( These events seem to only add fodder to my dream of owning a small hobby farm some day.) I was also pleased to be able to obtain a whole lot of photos for future sheep paintings. Which always pleases me. I don't know if any of you have a warm up craft that you do, but knitting for me is a warm up. I find it keeps my hands steady and limber. Also its fun and very addictive.
The oil paintings are still in the works. I finally broke down and bought some linseed oil so that I would be more satisfied with my trees in the landscape that I'm working on. We will see if it helps at all.

Playing

So I've been selling a few things on Etsy recently and have been playing around with pretty wrapping styles. This package is waiting to be sent out. I have to say it is very fun to make the package look good!
The leaf was found on walk, I was planning to paint it but then the cat found it and well there is no more leaf. I'm still working on the oil painting and have been doing some smaller watercolors for my store on etsy.

Mail

I love getting mail and sending it for that matter. This little bird was for someone recovering in the hospital. Handmade cards are the best. I don't put much stock by store bought, they seem a bit cold to me. But I suppose that even the most generic card can liven up by what is written in it and the intention of the sender. I have to confess that I horde cards that are sent to me, whether they are store bought or handmade. I don't think I've ever thrown one away.

Its getting cold here in Syracuse and the leaves are changing. Knitting weather, quilting weather, and long drives into the country weather! Lovely. I have also noticed many crows about recently especially at night, I think their nest keeps getting spooked. Its not just five or six, I think about fifty flew by me one night and this was in the heart of the city. Very strange.

*These morning doves, like the crows, seem to be cropping up all over the place recently. Not only do I keep drawing them but I see them every where too! What a strange bird filled city I have moved to!

Cozy

There is so much going on these days, that part of me just wants to curl up with my knitting. I have been working hard on my etsy store and am pretty satisfied with it. The rain has been almost constant during the last week. So its a little hard to really get going, always feel sleepy. Of course it doesn't help that my cat insists on sleeping on my lap, I think her sleep habits might be rubbing off on me.
My oil paintings are taking a while to dry, I blame the weather! But when they do, I'm getting right back to work on them. Hopefully I can finish some more watercolors today!
