Fall Storm
Its been cloudy here the past few days, so I wanted to do a quick study of the cloudy sky and bare branches. I always think that the fall and winter skies look like cream being added to coffee, nice soft white billows everywhere.

Lots of Progress
Added a lot of texture to the ground yesterday and worked on the form of the tree in the foreground. There are so many leaves around here that you can barely see the sidewalk anymore!

On the Easel
I'm working on a larger still life, its going pretty well and I hope to get it filled in tomorrow. I'm excited by how nicely the red Gala apples are turning out. Hopefully I will have a few more subjects soon seeing as apple season is here.

Tonal Painting Work in Progress
A tonal painting is a style of painting with which instead of doing an intricate sketch before painting you map out the colors from lightest to darkest. I am enjoying the style so far! I think it adds a sort of freshness to the final work. Also Sargent was said to use this method, and I really love his work.

Framed Landscape
Kranz Hill Farm plein air landscape in its frame. I love how well the frame suits this piece! Not much time to post or really paint today, I am playing with tonal painting and then going to a gallery for a meeting.

The fields have turned a deep gold color and the woods have only touches of color but promise a brilliant show. The meadow above was seen on the drive from Delaware to the Poconos.

Kranz Hill Farm
The festival at Kranz Hill Farm on Saturday went very well. I think a good time was had by all! I even got a chance to do some plein air painting demonstrations. My plan is to eventually do a painting class at the farm. Hopefully I will be able to post more photos from the festival soon.
