I've been interested in what I call memory landscapes. These are basically landscape paintings done purely from my memory of a place at a certain time. Watercolor seems to capture both elements of memory, the easily recalled bright colors and moods along with the blurry spots that are filled in with a sort of haze.
The above is my memory of the meadow near my home during a recent light rain. I was in the car and I was drawn to the woods in the distance and the bright golden rod blooming everywhere. The rain made the heat rise and created a brilliant mist.
