End of Summer

Title: End of Summer
Medium: watercolor on paper
Size: 9"x12"

At the end of summer these yellow finches come darting and diving into our garden. Sitting on flowers, they look straight out of a fairy story. So delicate and light these fellows barely even bend the stem.

I recently found out that the females build their nests partially out of spider webs, and weave them so tight that they can hold water (she has to protect it with her wings to avoid the rain filling it).
